Bakemonogatari is an extremely well written anime that features a series of short stories about Koyomi Arararagi and the many girls he helps save from the supernatural. Bakemonogatari is unique in that it successfully pulls off both the supernatural and comedy genre, especially the comedy. Humor can be difficult to translate, and that still holds true for some of the jokes. Specifically, jokes that revolve around Japanese word play puns will leave the non-Japanese audience confused, but there is plenty of other humor that translates very well. I expect that everyone who has watched this series will agree that there are moments that they needed to catch their breath from laughing so hard.

The art style is beautiful and unique, but at times its difficult to call it animation. The series over-uses still images, and there are several times where it feels that you are watching a broken video, where the animation has seemingly stopped but the sound is still going. It may ruin your experience if you are looking for a high gloss action anime.

All in all though, I would highly recommend Bakemonogatari! I expect after you watch the first episode, you'll understand why :)
