Quick review for this anime:
It's filled with blood, violence, and tragedy, so if your nerves can't handle this, you better not watch it. For all the rest, I think you will like it. The animation is very good and it have some 3D effects too. The original TV version of Gantz was heavily censored. And besides the usual editing, episode 2 and 3 got cut together and episode 10 didn't air at all. Of course this doesn't apply for this version, because it's uncensored! Enjoy it!!!

gantz in my opinion was very ok at best the overall plot is shaky at best the animation in not well done mostly characters not moving in thier enviroments according to hwo they are moving example when some one is running they move slower or faster than the backround causing thier feet to slide. but above all else the thing that got me was the pacing in each episode I spent a good part of each yelling at my moniter to stop talking about it and just shot it. at one point a character actualy spoke say 20 something lines of dialoge and THEN got killed instead of steping slightly to the side. Also the ending sucks no resolution and your not sure what just happened nothing is explaned. The one thing this anime got right was how to sucker you into the next episode the end of EVERY episode is an epic cliffhanger and you want to know what happens. So in conusion if you want an anime with a good plot this is not it want one with action this is to slow pointless dialoge choke the combat.

If you're looking for an anime with intelligent themes and a plot that puts a great twist on death, this is it! Look no further if you're fresh off a Death Note high and would like to re-visit something in that vein. No super geniuses, but this anime conveys emotion accurately (or as well as an anime can) for the most part.

+ Good Points: Sophisticated emotions, interesting plot hook, strong characters

- Cons: May be slow paced to some, highly mature themes, ending was created without the manga

All in all, just give this series a chance! You'll either love it or not care very much at all.

Terrible, much better off reading the anime. If you like action like me, do yourself a favor and just watch episode 10-20 or so. The story in the anime is pretty shallow so you won't really be missing out. One of the other reviews gave this only two stars too. I really wish I had listened.

YOu will be seriously frustrated for about the first ten episodes. Characters just stand there pointing guns at the aliens while they are getting killed. After that people start to actually fight and shoot things, but then the last few episodes go back to standing around while they get killed. You need a lot of patience to watch this anime, and I hope I never watch anything like it again (story wise, if you can get to the action its ok).

I almost just stopped watching around episode 8, but people actually started trying to stay alive so I stuck with it.
