It's not too bad, and it sucked me in for a while. I have been craving anime targetted at a more mature audience, so I gave this show a shot, but in the end was very disappointed. Keep in mind I am more critical than most other users on this site though. I had to stop around episode 15. I got really sick of the absurd inconsistency and unrealistic characters and plot twists. For such a serious show, it sure is absurd and overly sentimental.

Synopsis:
 Seven teenagers in 1955 have to learn to live together in the same hold in the reformatory of Shio. Confined in a hall where suffering and humiliation are daily, they are waiting for a ray of hope in a dark, incarcerating world. The story follows their life together and how they move on afterwards.
